In recent years we have seen several court cases relating to claims against shipbrokers arising out of shipping transactions. In a decision in one of those cases earlier this year, the Norwegian Court of Appeal provided useful guidance on liability of shipbrokers, and the duty of care of shipbrokers in shipping transactions.

According to the report “Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change”, published 4 April 2022, carbon capture and storage (CCS) is essential in order to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and reach the climate goals. When establishing an international value chain for CCS, the industry will have to work within the international rules and framework. This article focuses on the restrictions on export of CO2 in the “London Dumping Regime”, especially the London Protocol.

The regulatory framework that exists within the shipping and offshore industries is long established. Whilst the existing framework effectively extends to also encompass the offshore floating wind sector in Norway, the same cannot be said for deepwater fish farms.

Lise's main areas of practice relate to transactions and general commercial advice within the shipping offshore segment.

She assists in shipping and offshore transactions, particularly sale and purchase of vessels, change of flag, and financing questions. Lise also has experience with providing advice in a number of areas, among them related to maritime and contract law issues, including advice related to larger manufacturing contracts.

Lise has a particular interest in contract law issues and has written a master's thesis on "the battle of forms". She has a master in law from the University of Bergen, and an LL.M. in International Business Law from King's College London, specialising in shipping law, insurance law, investment law and corporate governance.
